The south end map shows the detail of where construction and drops are in progress or complete. The completed drop addresses are reflected by the green dots. A red circle designates the general area where drops are being worked currently (in mid-August). 

The ‘Committed to Record’ status indicates that construction is completed. 

The ‘As Staked’ statuses to the north reflect construction has not started but is engineered. 

The mainline construction crews will be working on SROA-01d next, followed by the SROA-01f, and SROA-1e last.

TDS has been constructing fiber optic infrastructure in Sunriver and will complete the entire project by December 31, 2026. 

Work is being done in stages in various areas of the community – beginning in the north and central portions of Sunriver.  As part of the construction, and in order to serve your home, a drop line will need to be constructed from the main line along the road to the house.  The drop to the home will follow the construction progress of the main line, with some homes being able to be connected sooner than others. 

TDS will notify individual owners of any pending work on their property to complete the fiber drop to the home. BELOW IS WHAT THAT LETTER MAY LOOK LIKE...

TDS Letter to Owners:

TDS representatives will be visiting your home to continue construction of the TDS fiber network. Once completed, the TDS network will deliver exceptionally fast, reliable fiber Internet service.

To connect your home to the TDS fiber network, our contractors may need to trench and bury a conduit for the fiber line into your yard. We will try to use the existing conduit path before trenching, but we may not be able to in all cases. If we disrupt any landscaping or hardscaping during this process, we will make repairs as soon as possible after work is complete. 

TDS construction crews will be working in your area starting (date to be determined and included in your specific notification). You do not need to schedule an appointment for our contractors to begin their work. They may require access into your home to complete their work but will reach out in those instances.

If you do not wish to have fiber constructed to your home, you may opt out.
If you do not opt out by (date to be determined and included in your specific notification), work will be completed at your address. To opt out of this construction, please visit HelloTDS.com/Sunriver.

Customers who choose to opt out will not be able to receive bulk fiber internet service, and their existing coaxial cable internet services will be decommissioned by TDS at a future date.

Please keep an eye out for an email or letter sent to you from TDS concerning this work. 

TDS (formerly BendBroadband) continues to work installing fiber-to-the-home internet service in Sunriver. Work is currently underway in the central and northern areas of Sunriver.

Owners will receive correspondence directly from TDS (either by email or mail) once they reach your lane and are ready to hook service up to your home. There is no need to contact TDS or SROA unless prompted to do so.

In the meantime, here are some details on the process.

• Fiber mainline installation has been underway since summer 2023.
• The entire project will be complete by December 31, 2026.
• As mainlines are constructed and available on a lane, TDS will begin constructing “drops” to individual properties between the mainline to the home.
• TDS will either email (primarily) or mailed (where email is not available) notification to owners approximately two/three weeks prior to the drops being proposed on their property.
• If property owners do not want the drop constructed on their property, they must “opt out” directly to/with TDS (notify TDS at HelloTDS.com/Sunriver).
• If owners do not contact TDS to “opt out” of the drop being installed on their property, it will be constructed within the timeline established by TDS in their notification letter.
• TDS will construct approximately 100 drops at a time as weather and conditions allow.
• Once a drop is constructed to the home and fiber service is available, owners will receive a letter or email from TDS to have the service activated within the home.
• Activation includes scheduling a day/time for TDS technicians to enter the home, install the necessary equipment and activate the service. The timeline for the activation work is at the discretion of the owner.
• Until activation of the fiber service is requested and completed, any existing coaxial service to the home will be maintained by TDS (so there will be no disruption in existing service). Upon activation of the fiber service, TDS will then disconnect the coaxial service.
• Upon fiber internet activation, TDS will notify SROA within 30-days and SROA will begin billing that property owner the approved $35 monthly fee.
• Also, upon activation and billing by SROA, the payment by the owner to TDS for any equivalent internet service will be removed from their TDS bill (so that there is no overlap between fees paid to SROA and TDS for internet service).
• Other services (over and above or in addition to the basic internet service provided by TDS under the SROA bulk agreement) provided to a specific property are at the discretion of that owner and will continue to be billed directly to that owner by TDS (SROA has no participation in other services or charges from TDS).
• As is the current protocol, after installation of the fiber, any service issues must be reported directly to TDS and not SROA.
• TDS will decommission the existing coax network once the fiber build is complete (end of year 2026). Notices will be sent to any remaining coax customers requiring conversion at a determined future date.

TDS has to first install the FTTH infrastructure and is currently underway in the north and central areas of Sunriver. It will take up to three years to reach every home with a completion date of no later than December 31, 2026.

When TDS will reach your lane is not known. TDS will contact owners via a letter or email once the fiber has been installed on your lane to arrange for turning on your internet service at the home.

There is no need to contact TDS at this time unless you have received correspondence from TDS to do so.

Once the fiber infrastructure is in place – and service is available at the home – you will begin to pay for the service. PLEASE NOTE: ALL owners (with a developed lot) will pay the $35 monthly fee – whether you choose to use the fiber service or not.

Although SROA may initially send a prorated invoice based on the service start date, the $35/month will eventually be added to the maintenance fee billing as a separate line. As a special purpose assessment, the $35/month will not be eligible for the 3% discount if you pay your SROA maintenance fee on an annual basis.   

SROA accepts checks via mail or at the association office. Owners can also pay with a credit card (and subject to credit card fees) via the SROA maintenance fee payment portal.

All other TDS services (phone, TV, etc.) will continue to be billed by TDS at their current rates.

You can choose to "opt-out" of placing a fiber line to your home.

BUT, please be aware... If you choose to opt-out of receiving the fiber Internet service, and you currently have TDS coax internet, that service will be decommissioned by end of year 2026 as coaxial internet will no longer be provided.

You also will be subject to the $35/monthly service charge at that time – whether you use the TDS fiber service or not.

No, the new rate is only applicable to the fiber-to-the-home service – once it is installed and hooked up at your home. TDS will notify SROA when this step is complete. This is when you will start to be billed for the fiber service by SROA.

All other TDS provided services – phone, TV, etc. – will continue to be billed to you by TDS.

Yes, this will be provided free by TDS once the fiber is available at your home.

Once the infrastructure is in place, TDS will need to install a fiber terminal box outside or inside your home (this can be in the garage, etc.) and set up your router. Both will be provided free by TDS.

The property owner (or a representative) will need to be present when these steps happen. TDS will reach out to set up an appointment for the home install once the fiber is in place and ready to turn on.

Do not contact TDS at this time – they will contact you – either by email or a mailed notification.

Guess what? TDS has already agreed to increase fiber internet from 300mbps to 1 gigabyte at no additional cost! You will also have unlimited upload/download capability (at 1g).

First, contact TDS support at 1-855-696-8368. Per the bulk services agreement, SROA can step in on behalf of an owner in the event of “chronic” issues. Luckily, fiber internet provides 99.9% service reliability.

We don’t have a crystal ball of how things may look in 15 years.

Options could be a review and extension of the current agreement, negotiations of a new agreement or something completely different.

You will continue to be billed for those options by TDS, not SROA.
