Story, Photo or Letter Submissions

Submission deadline is the 12th of the month prior to publication.
We accept Word documents (.doc or .docx).

Story & Photo Requirements

  • Stories and photos should be relevant to Sunriver owners. Stories should be no more than 700 words.
  • Be sure to include the who, what, where, when and why for submitting an article or photo.
  • Digital photos (jpg, jpeg, tif, eps formats only) need to be a minimum of 180 dpi and in good focus and exposure. Don't over crop or color correct, leave the editing to us! Do not use images from the web (they are generally low resolution).
  • Please send images as an email attachment, NOT embedded in a Word document or the body of the email as images are often downsized by the email program and may be too small or poor quality for print.

Letters to the Editor Requirements

  • The Scene only accepts a "Letter to the Editor" from Sunriver owners in good standing, the topic must pertain to Sunriver, and be no more than 200 words.
  • Longer opinions of no more than 400 words may be published as "A Chorus of One."
  • Include a phone number, email and Sunriver property/address which we use to verify authorship and to clarify any questions.
  • Be sure to state your submission is a "Letter to the Editor" in the subject line or in the body of the email.

Was Your Letter Rejected?
Possible Reasons Why

  • Submission does not guarantee publication and run as space allows. Letters may be held until the following month.
  • Are you in good standing with the association? (no violations for design, noxious weed or ladder fuels citations, past due on maintenance fees, civility code, etc.)
  • The acceptance or rejection of a letter is determined by the editor. SROA's general manager or president of the SROA Board of Directors also have the authority to reject a letter.
  • All letters are subject to editing under newspaper standards and practices for brevity, grammar, clarity, civility and legal concerns.
  • Letters of a personal nature or attacks on individuals will not be published.
  • The Scene does not print anonymous letters. Please include a name and Sunriver property information.
  • Letters perceived as advertising for a company, product or political in nature will not be published.
